Thank You!
A huge shout out to the almost 700 homeschoolers who
made it to Homeschool Day at the Capitol this year! Those
numbers really make a statement to our state legislators!
• The Capitol tours were a popular activity again. We added
two time slots and still had a waiting list!
• The FAMiLY LEADER did a great job speaking in our work-
shops and gave us some good information on homeschool-
ing freedoms and where the bills that threatened those
freedoms stood in the House and Senate. Thankfully, none
of the bills made it past required funnel date deadlines on
this year’s legislative session calendar. That’s great news
for homeschoolers, but it makes us realize we need to be
vigilant and ever watchful in protecting our right to home-
school.
• One of the highlights of the day was when Governor Kim
Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg took time out of
their busy schedules to mingle with our group. We appreci-
ate them for standing for our freedom to homeschool!
• Mark Monday, March 16th on your 2020 calendar. That’s
the date for next year’s event! Our goal each year is to have
a family from every Iowa House and Senate District attend
Capitol Day. Will you help us meet that goal?
