SESSION III - FRIDAY  2:30  -  3:30 PM

Making Learning Fun ~ Rick Boyer
www.thelearningparent.com
Thomas Edison was one of the greatest geniuses our country ever produced. Part of the reason for his brilliance was the fact that, after attending school for only three months, he was educated at home by his mother, who believed that learning can be fun. Her philosophy paid off, as it has for thousands of other home educators who have broken free from bondage to the "institutional" approach and returned to natural, sensible ways of teaching. Stop making a school of yourself! This workshop gives eight simple suggestions that can revolutionize your child's learning and make home education fun for the whole family.

Be informed about these changes  before the new school year begins!

SESSION IV - FRIDAY   4:00  -  5:00 PM

Education & Worldview Formation ~ Voddie Baucham
www.voddiebaucham.org
How does education affect worldview, and what that does it mean for your child? Jesus said the student is not above his teacher but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher therefore education is discipleship. This not only has implications for where our children are educated but also dictates how our children will be educated. In this session we will see the spiritual devastation wrought by Christ-less education and the pitfalls we must avoid if we want to stem the tide.

Your Parental Rights: The Left's Next Target ~ Scott Woodruff
www.hslda.org
Hear Home School Legal Defense Association Attorney Scott Woodruff relate how recent developments in America and Europe are flashing warning signals to us that basic parental rights are in jeopardy. Some rights, like freedom of the press, freedom of speech and freedom of religion get the highest protection because they are specifically listed in the Constitution. But one of the essential rights upon which our ability to homeschool rests, the right of a parent to direct the education and upbringing of a child, is not listed. Only an amendment to the Constitution explicitly protecting fundamental parental rights will preserve what we have won after decades of struggle. The "wish list" of the left includes a goal of reducing parental rights to a mere privilege subject to government licensing and the eradication of homeschooling as we know it. It's a race to the finish to see if we can amend the Constitution before the left can achieve its antifamily agenda, and the stakes are unimaginably high. Don't ask when it will begin. The battle of the century has already begun.

Laying Down the Rails ~ Sonya Shafer
www.simplycharlottemason.com
Consider the importance of training our children in good habits that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. This workshop includes the sixty habits found in Charlotte Mason?s writings, and focuses specifically on the top three she mentioned most. Very practical and encouraging!

SEATING WILL BE LIMITED FOR THESE WORKSHOPS. PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY TO ENSURE ADMITTANCE.

Holding Their Hearts ~ Marilyn Boyer
www.thelearningparent.com
Holding Their Hearts explains how the key to raising children who love God is in the heart-to-heart relationship between parent and child, where children are not just trained, but discipled. Take the time to give your children the security of knowing they have your heart. In so doing you are making it easier for them to freely give their heart back to their Creator, and that is our mission. Catch a vision of how you can reach and hold the heart of your child and build fulfilling family relationships that will be passed on through generations.

Careers without College ~ Rick Boyer
www.thelearningparent.com
More and more colleges are welcoming, and even advertising for, home educated students. But just as college is not the only means of acquiring a higher education, neither is it the only way of preparing for a rewarding career. This workshop discusses the routes taken by several prominent Americans who reached the pinnacle of their chosen fields without attending college.

The Trojan Horse ~ a video produced by ACHEL [Alliance of Christian Home Education Leadership]

How to Teach History Providentially~ Dr. Phil Kayser, Biblical Blueprints
www.biblicalblueprints.org
Teaching providential history is hard because it takes much more than a mere recitation of dates and events. Providential history is an attempt to interpret history within a Biblical Worldview and show the meaning and purpose of historical events. This is what made older Christian histories so exciting to read. You saw God?s hand directing the flow of history in exciting ways. May we see a new generation of historians proclaiming the mighty deeds of God!

Biblical Family Discipleship ~ Dirk Zollinger, Taught of the Lord

Understanding concepts and the relationships between them are critical for building a strong foundation.

KEYNOTE - FRIDAY  7:30  -  9:00 PM

Homeschooling: Why & How ~ Voddie Baucham
www.voddiebaucham.org
A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.(Luke 6:40) It is impossible to separate education from discipleship. Whomever we allow to educate our children will inevitably be their primary discipler. This is not only true of our choice to homeschool. It is also true of our choice of curriculum, philosophy and goals. In this session, we will examine what the Bible has to say about the training of the mind and explore ways to choose education over schooling.

KEYNOTE - SATURDAY  8:30  -  9:25 AM

Homeschooling: Educating for Eternity ~ Rick Boyer
www.thelearningparent.com
As Christians, we have a two-fold responsibility--to fight God's battles in our own lifetime and to pass on that mission to the next generation.  Today, home educating families are at the forefront of God's movement, foretold in Malachi 6:  A turning of the fathers' hearts to their children, and the children?s hearts to their fathers.  As Christian families fight the battle of reaching their own generation with the gospel of Christ, we must work just as hard to communicate our mission to our children and pass on our passion for God so they will continue the fight.  In this session, Rick Boyer discusses some of the intergenerational convictions the Boyers hold dear and gets some help from the family with video appearances by his wife, Marilyn and six of their fourteen children.

There is a mighty clash of worldviews going on all around us, and there is no way to escape. Educating our children at home will only postpone the inevitable. Our children will engage the culture. Many home educators are intimidated by the common myth that children who are taught at home are at a disadvantage in social development. www.teenworks.net/AboutUs/Tutors/tabid/633/Default.aspx

Wanda will present a lively presentation on the options of distance learning and its benefits, such as learning at home with no driving expense or time on the road, and having weekly access to the best teachers from across America.  Webworks provides classes for Jr. High and Sr. High students at affordable rates and with a Biblical worldview.  Since most homeschoolers spend 12 years building a Godly seed only to send them off to a college campus where their faith is shredded by humanistic professors, we determined to establish an online college course from a Biblical worldview.  Wanda will also teach you the great alternatives and possibilities for homeschoolers to get college credit while in high school.  Wanda is author of The Mini Manual for Distance Learning and has worked with homeschoolers for 25 years, after home schooling her own children.  She and her husband have eight grandchildren that are also being home schooled.

SESSION IX - SATURDAY  2:30  -  3:30 PM

Take Back the Land ~ Rick Boyer
www.thelearningparent.com
It has been said that the parents of the 1980's and 90's were the Moses generation--they left Egypt (government schooling) and headed for the Promised Land, as the Israelites once traversed the wilderness to return to Canaan.  The generation of Moses completed part of the mission, getting as far as the Jordan River.
But it was left to Joshua and the younger Israelites to cross the river and take back the land that had been promised to their father Abraham centuries before.  Today, home schooling parents have broken free from the bondage of Godless philosophies and are raising up the Joshua generation that will carry the battle over the Jordan--taking the banner of Christ back into American government, law, medicine, business, education and the arts, where God and His Word were once universally honored.  The enemies of God are trembling today at the thunderous approach of the Joshua generation!!
